Rainforest Landscape & Nursery @ Garden Mart - CLOSED

Here is one nursery that has been operating at Garden Mart for a few years already. I had always looked forward to checking out the new plants that are parked outside the premises of this nursery each time I pass by it. Other than plants, they have lots of interesting sandstone garden features and sculptures, wooden furniture, garden ornaments and pots on the selling floor.

Rainforest Landscape & Nursery opens from 8.00am to 7.30pm daily. They have fascinating plants for the pond as well as for the garden!

Plant Variety Rating: 3.50 | They have lots of trees and shrubs for landscaping. 
 
The ones in the shade (placed right at the entrance) are plants with handsome foliages.

In the open are flowering plants like frangipani and allamanda. Apt for its name, I saw lots of beautiful tropical rainforest greens!

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most of the plants are in good condition. 
 
The plants that are outside look really attractive. When I was there, I was so attracted to the water hyssop with its bright green leaves and pretty lavender flowers... an excellent bog plant!

Layout Rating: 3.75 | Although the plants are not so neatly arranged, you can still check out each one pretty easily. 
 
If you interested in the pots (that are mostly stacked up) you can always ask for some assistance from the workers there.

Katsura Garden & Water Feature @ Garden Mart

Katsura Garden & Water Feature is one of the many plant vendors found in Garden Mart. The variety of plants that are all nicely arranged at the front of this nursery are so captivating. The popular little bird flower plants and aquatic plants are some of the interesting greens here. Even without stepping into the nursery (when I first visited it), I was totally convinced that they have plenty of ornamental plants to offer. Suriakumar Landscaping @ Garden Mart

There is a nursery at Garden Mart that I tend to miss as there are a number of nurseries here and this one is located just next to a small roundabout right in the centre of the mart area. More over it has a rather inconspicuos frontage. Anyway this time, I decided to pop in to have a closer look at what they have. 
 
Suriakumar Landscaping opens daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm. Besides retailing plants, garden maintenance services are provided. The namecard that was given to me says that they are also a fish pond specialist!

At first glance, the nursery does not appear to be that attractive as the plants are all over the place. The attendants said that they moved in about a year ago and will be stocking up more plants soon. I was told to come back the following week as there will be lots of new plants by that time. Well, I have yet to pay them the second visit though!

Plant Variety Rating: 3 | Since they were just starting to stock up with new orders when I was there, not many plants were available. Although there are only a small collection of water plants, bamboo and shrubs, I must say that they already have some interesting plants in place. 
 
One show-stopper was a variegated jatropha. The plant looks very Christmasy! It's really beautiful and I wish I had more space in my garden to include this outstanding shrub.

I stopped at these small bushes that were in black bags. I was told that they are new ixora hybrids. The flowers looks more compact than the usual non-hybrid types.

They have some nice water plants that were in small ponds as well.

Layout Rating: 2.0 | Some plants are placed outside the nursery, near the roundabout opposite its compound and right below a power line structure. Here the plants are pretty organised, compare to those in the nursery which are less orderly.

It has been quite a while since I have last been to Garden Mart to shop for plants. Well, this time was no different from the last. All the nurseries that I stepped into have good stock of plants. It's amazing to see the huge variety of plants that they have in stock if you just have the time to go from one nursery to another. 
 
I decided to visit one that simply says 'Lot 15' on its signboard. The lady attending to me surprised me when she mentioned that they have already been in business for more than three years. Well, I must have missed this nursery during my previous visits ;-)

Sanyi Enterprise opens daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm. They specialise in live Phalaenopsis orchids and artifical flowers.

Some of the Phalaenopsis orchids a.k.a. butterfly orchids (another common name is moth orchid) that were placed in a coldroom were already nicely arranged in small pretty pots ready for customers to take away. 
 
Plant Variety Rating: 3 | Although the nursery sells lots of live butterfly orchids, they also have some ornamental plants that occupied a few rack space located right infront of the shop. 
 
They have some really nice creepers and trailing ferns and flowering plants.

Aside from the butterfly orchids, they have a little farm that hold a number of cattleya, oncidium and wild orchids.

The ornamental plants that I like most here are the bromeliads, staghorn ferns, hydrangeas, begonias and calatheas.

Along the curvy and busy road, just after Riana Green in PJ Tropicana, is I Vision Tropicana Nursery, a nursery that has been here for the past almost two years. The nursery's operating hours are between 8.30am and 7.00pm.
