I came across this nursery at Kajang that's situated along the busy Jalan Desa Impian 2 at Taman Desa Impian. Avenue Horticulture retails some nice plants and have garden products and they open daily from 9.00am to 7.00pm daily.


Big shrubs like ficus bonsai and cycads were placed in the open at the left and right sides of the entrance gate.



Plant Variety Rating: 3.50 | They have herb plants, shrubs, ferns, agave and yucca.



Some of the flowering shrubs like bougainvillea, desert rose, bleeding heart vine and ruellia were blooming.



At one far end of the nursery, I saw some interesting bamboos and frangipanis.



Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most plants are in good condition.



Layout Rating: 4.00 | All the plants are neatly arranged. Those in the shade were on racks. The plants that are out in open are arranged in groups. It was easy to move about as there are ample space to walk about.



Garden Products Rating: 3.00 | I saw lots of interesting ceramic pots in various shapes and colours.

Katsura Garden & Water Feature @ Garden Mart

Katsura Garden & Water Feature is one of the many plant vendors found in Garden Mart. The variety of plants that are all nicely arranged at the front of this nursery are so captivating. The popular little bird flower plants and aquatic plants are some of the interesting greens here.

Even without stepping into the nursery (when I first visited it), I was totally convinced that they have plenty of ornamental plants to offer. And while passing by the place on another day about a month ago there was a plant sales taking place.



The operating hours of this nursery are from 8.00am to 7.00pm.

Plant Variety Rating: 4 | Their range of ornamental plants include trees, palms, aquatic plants, ferns and flowering shrubs.



I saw a number of aquatic plants like Mexican sword plant and water lily that were looking really nice.



The collection of bromeliads, calathea, aglaonema and alocasia were amazing!



I like the way they packaged some potted plants by matching beautiful ferns with nice pots. They were all orderly on racks for customers' convenient browsing.



If you are shopping for green ferns and nice foliage or shrubs for your garden, this is really the nursery to go to. Other than that, there were also many trees that were displayed in the open.



Plant Condition Rating: 4 | The condition of most of the plants are very good.



Layout Rating: 4 | The nursery has a squarish layout. The shades are built with a path in the middle. The plants are all placed on the left and right sides. I find it really interesting to walk around the nursery like that. I did not need to remember which part that I have covered... hence will not miss out on anything :-D



Garden Products Rating: 4.5 | There are a variety of gardening accessories and suppllies. Various types of fertilisers are available as well.

Widuri 2 Nurseri

While hunting for nurseries around the Rawang/Hulu Selangor area, I came across this little home-based one along a row of terrace houses in Bandar Bukit Beruntung. It actually has quite a number of plants placed infront of as well as on a small plot of land across its premises.

Well, it seems that a big space is not a pre-requisite to start a nursery. All one need is a bit of creativity and hardwork, and a dose of entrepreneurial spirit! As I stepped into the premises, I was greeted by Hashim the proprietor, who showed me what he has at his 'mini farm'.



Widuri 2 Nurseri opens for business at this place daily, while on weekends, they retail their plants at the Kuala Kubu Market from 8.00am to 1.00pm.

They have ornamental plants as well as herb plants.



Plant Variety Rating: 2.75 | There are some orchids, banana shrubs, bougainvilleas, ferns, palms and trailing plants.





Plant Condition Rating: 2.75 | Only some plants are in good condition.

Suriakumar Landscaping @ Garden Mart

There is a nursery at Garden Mart that I tend to miss as there are a number of nurseries here and this one is located just next to a small roundabout right in the centre of the mart area. More over it has a rather inconspicuos frontage. Anyway this time, I decided to pop in to have a closer look at what they have.

Suriakumar Landscaping opens daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm. Besides retailing plants, garden maintenance services are provided. The namecard that was given to me says that they are also a fish pond specialist!



At first glance, the nursery does not appear to be that attractive as the plants are all over the place. The attendants said that they moved in about a year ago and will be stocking up more plants soon. I was told to come back the following week as there will be lots of new plants by that time. Well, I have yet to pay them the second visit though!



Plant Variety Rating: 3 | Since they were just starting to stock up with new orders when I was there, not many plants were available. Although there are only a small collection of water plants, bamboo and shrubs, I must say that they already have some interesting plants in place.

One show-stopper was a variegated jatropha. The plant looks very Christmasy! It's really beautiful and I wish I had more space in my garden to include this outstanding shrub.



I stopped at these small bushes that were in black bags. I was told that they are new ixora hybrids. The flowers looks more compact than the usual non-hybrid types.



They have some nice water plants that were in small ponds as well.



Plant Condition Rating: 3.5 | The new plants are in good condition but not the old ones though.



Layout Rating: 2.0 | Some plants are placed outside the nursery, near the roundabout opposite its compound and right below a power line structure. Here the plants are pretty organised, compare to those in the nursery which are less orderly.
