Hew Nursery

Hew Nursery was a surprise find! Unlike the many nurseries that have set up business along Jalan Sungai Buloh-Subang, this one is located away from the busy main road.

Besides being a wholesaler, importer and exporter of various orchids and oriental plants for more than twenty years, the owners also grow orchids at the back of the nursery. They have cold rooms especially for those beautiful phalaenopsis hybrid orchids.

Hew Nursery opens daily from 8.00am to 6.00pm.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.5 | I saw many varieties of orchids. I was told that the orchids mainly come from Taiwan.

In the cold rooms are mostly phalaenopsis hybrid orchids.

The rest are a mix of other popular orchids like dendrobiums, cattleya, oncidium, vanda and mokara.

Aside from the popular orchids, they have other wild jungle and rare orchids.

The ornamental plants are mainly agloanema, croton, anthurium, desert rose and flowering plants like chrysanthemum and pineapple.

There were tillandsia plants too which were hanging together with some orchids. I like the collection of euphorbia milii that are placed right infront of the premises.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.5 | The condition of most of the plants are very good.

Layout Rating: 3.75 | I have a good time browsing the orchids that they have. But because the nursery is sitting on a slope, I have to walk up and down slopes and stairs to look at all the plants that they have.

Garden Products Rating: 2.5 | They have ceramic pots for orchids and ornamental plants.

Fertiliser and spaghnum moss for orchids are also available.

I sure do enjoy visiting nurseries through your blog. At this one I love the pineapple, the orchids and the euphorbia milii.

Hello Diane, that pineapple is definitely very different from the rest - it's cute ;-)

What an interesting blog! And very informative too, thanks for sharing Stephanie.

My parents live in Shah Alam, I should swing by one day to look for these beautiful orchids.

Found you on James Wong's blog btw :)

i visited the place last weekend. We still able to grab some good deal even it is not session. We couldnt found this place 3 weeks ago. The landmark is Subang old airport. Fro the airport you just go across the bring and at the second trafic light turn left,50m away and you will able to see the nursery on your right.

A stunning collection! The orchids are no doubt lovely but the ornamentals are no less!

Kanak, it felt so good to be surrounded by those stunning orchids when I was there! Fyi, the orchid farms/nurseries in Malaysia have very pretty collection of orchids. A visit to one will always be worthwhile.
