Chia Yit Nursery

Another nursery at the Selangor Green Lane that I visited recently is Chia Yit Nursery. I got to know about this nursery from an email blast.

Chia Yit Nursery opens daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm.

Although the racks and shelters are of old materials, the nursery is well kept and tidy. I had a pleasant experience walking around the nursery.

Plant Variety Rating: 4 | There are lots of plants in small pots, hanging from above, on racks, under the racks and in an open space at one end of the nursery.

I spotted some kaempferia pulchra, amaryllis, guzmania, copper leaf plant, clerodendron and hydrangea.

There were a wide range of popular ferns like money plant, alocasia, cordyline, aglaonema, palm, calathea, syngonium, dieffenbachia, dracaena, staghorn fern and spathiphyllum plants.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.5 | All the plants are in pretty good condition especially the green ferns on the racks which are on the right side as you enter the nursery.

Layout Rating: 4.5 | I really like the way all the plants are organised. Those that are placed on racks, hung and below the racks are all neatly arranged. The groupings are very clear and one can browse the plants there easily. The aisles are wide and clear.

Garden Products Rating: 3.75 | There are some garden ornaments, garden accessories, ceramic pots and garden products at one section of the nursery.

As a mostly critical blogger I find this type
of post relevant and informative.
Since ALL nurseries in Puerto Rico stink for
different reasons, mostly lack of variety, no one knows the amount of species, or botanical names..

It is a mind opening post in terms of criteria
for consistent criticism and judgment.
Thanks.
Good luck for your projects in 2010.

Dear readers, I passed by this nursery last weekend (pretty fast) and noted that the plot was empty. So, I am not sure if they are still in business.
