Yew Garden
On the recommendation of Zana, one of my readers, I made a trip to Paya Jaras in Sungai Buloh to check out the nursery she mentioned. As I did not know its exact location, I stopped to ask someone along the main road if there is a nursery nearby. Immediately she directed me to one that's further up the road, near the 'pasar malam'.
The nursery is actually very prominent as it is located along the main road at Paya Jaras and there is a huge signboard with the nursery's name (and its website address!).

Yew Garden opens daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm. They have over 16 years experience in the nursery and landscape business.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.5 | There are many small potted cactus, fern, orchid and flower plants placed on sheltered racks and on the ground.
I also saw many nice roses, pentas, vincas, petunias, mona lavenders, marigolds, angelonia and euphorbia milis.

Aside from small potted plants, there are lots of young fruit trees like lime, guava, mango, pomegranate, pulasan and mangosteen.

Lots of attractive potted ferns like sword ferns, staghorn, silver squill, spider plant, donkey's ear and goosefoot plant are placed at one part of the nursery. Some are sold in black bags like the heliconias.

I also noticed a variety of cordyline, dieffenbachia, dracaena, caladium, calathea and aglaonema.

Plant Condition Rating: 4 | Most of the plants are in good condition.
A good variety of desert rose are also found here.

Layout Rating: 4 | I like the fact that most plants are sheltered unless they are big trees or ferns. I was able to browse the plants conveniently and most of the plants are price-tagged and named. The bigger trees are arranged neatly outside in groups. There are cemented and spacious walking paths to walk on.

Garden Product Rating: 4 | There are a huge variety of nice ceramic pots and gardening products. Seeds are sold here as well.

Yew Garden is located along the Sungai Buloh-Kuala Selangor main road. It is right next to Sekolah Menengah Teknik Selangor. They have another outlet called Asia Nursery at Jalan Sungai Buloh-Shah Alam (Selangor Green Lane). To view the map to both nurseries, please click here.
