Green Acre Florist & Orchid Shop

Green Acre Florist & Orchid Shop has a nursery at Selangor Green Lane and a retail outlet at the Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden, specialising in importing, exporting and sales of orchid plants.

This nursery opens daily from 9.00am to 6.30pm and has been in business for the last nine years.

I was fortunate to be able to chat with Ah Weng, the owner of the nursery. He explained that it takes a few years for an orchid plant to grow from its seed till it flowers. Proper care is needed for the orchid plant to grow well.

Plant Variety Rating: 4 | More than 200 types of plants. Mostly orchids, succulents and ferns.

Here you will find both monopodial and sympodial orchids in many varieties and colours, such as vanda, aracnis, dendrobium, oncidium, cattleyas etc.

I noticed some cacti, succulent and desert rose on the racks too. Other plants include snake plant, dracaena, bird's nest fern and a kind of pepper plant. You can get young orchid plants as well as flowering ones.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.5 | Most of the orchid plants are in excellent condition.

Layout Rating: 4 | Due to the nature of the plants, the whole nursery is shaded. There are ample spaces to move around although some spots are a bit narrow. The plants are neatly arranged on racks and on the ground.

Garden Products Rating: 3 | There were not many varieties of pots. I saw some small handicrafted pots and some claypots that look quite interesting though.

Here you will find in-house produced fertilisers, specially formulated to help orchids to grow healthily and bloom.

Update @ 25 April 2020: In the midst of moving. Their new place will be at Bukit Cherakah Shah Alam.
