Kean Huat Nursery & Landscaping
It was so hot last Sunday that I told myself that I shouldn't go out and just stay indoor.
But as I was on my way to Shah Alam, passing the row of nurseries along Jalan Subang, I noticed one that has a number of animal-shaped topiaries. The heat was quickly forgotten. I excitingly went into the nursery to browse their topiaries and plants.
One of these topiaries is selling for more than RM1,000! A bit hefty but if you think of the time and skills needed to grow one maybe it isn't that expensive after all. The pom-pom topiaries are less expensive though.
If you are interested in these topiaries, Kean Huat Nursery & Landscaping opens daily from 9.00am to 6.00pm. I learnt that they have been in this business for about 8 years.
They have farms at Pusat Kawalan Kusta Negara and Kampung Sri Indah in Sungai Buloh. They also import plants from Thailand and provide landscaping services.
Plant Variety Rating: 5 | More than 200 types of tropical ornamental palm, shrubs, trees, climbers, ground cover as well as aquatic plants. They have a good range of young, in-between and mature plants.
I saw some Medinilia, Spathipylium, Anthurium, Crypthantus and Calathea.
There are beautiful blooms of Zinnia, Dianthus, Daisy and Calathea.
And some variegated and colour-leaved plants like Codyline, Coctus, Dracaena, Tradescantia, Aglaonema, Fargugiam, Bromeliad, Coleus, Chlorophytum and Philodendron.
Plant Condition Rating: 4 | The plants are mostly in good condition.
Layout Rating: 4 | The plants are quite neatly arranged on racks as well as the ground. Although I felt that the aisles are a bit narrow, I could still mill around the nursery comfortably.
Garden Products Rating: 3.5 | There are a variety of ornamental ceramic, plastic and aquatic pots. They also sell imported ceramic pots from Vietnam.
They sell seeds, soil and fertilisers too.
