Jacky Lim Nursery

I walked into Jacky Lim Nursery from a neighbouring plant vendor. All the outlets here in this former Sungai Buloh Leprosy Centre -- that has grown into a fascinating horticultural centre -- are in fact linked in a row so you can move from one nursery to the other with ease. You can even consider spending the whole day here just admiring the beautiful plants on display :-)

At the front of this nursery that I visited I found to my delight many desert roses on one side and roses on the other side. Then as I was exiting the premises by taking the stairs down to the main road, I discovered that the plot opposite the road is also theirs!

Jacky Lim Nursery truly lives up to what is advertised on its name card -- that they sell scarlet flowers and all kinds of flowers besides wholesaling and supplying various trees. There were indeed lots of bright shrubs being on sale and I saw many gorgeous-looking red roses, hibiscus and desert roses.

The desert roses are labelled and in excellent condition. The one in the pic below is named Rose Valentine...

At the back of the nursery, they have lots of bougainvilleas.

I also noticed that those plants that were placed at the back are plants that have passed their prime.

The nursery opens from 8.00am to 7.00pm daily and is situated behind a house. So you might not be able to spot the farm from the road.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.50 | I love the desert roses here. They come in small sizes. Great for those who have not grown a desert rose before and now wanting to grow one. It's a robust plant that is hard to kill. My desert rose has been with me since I started the hobby :-)

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.00 | Though a little tight on space, one can still mill through the nursery with little hassle :-D

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | At one end of the nursery, there are ceramic pots and if you would like to get some fertilisers, they have them as well.

Hi Stephanie,
It has been a while since I last bought any flower plants! Usually when I go to Sg. Buloh nursery, I would head on straight to the fruits and herbs section! haha! I will only admire the flowers and refrain from buying them due to lack of space.
Thanks for the info on this nursery, will keep it in mind on my next trip there.

Hi Joyce, didn't notice the fruit trees when I was there. Anyway, my last fruit addition into my garden was a mulberry and now don't intend to add anymore fruit plants. Also because I like growing ornaments more hehe... you are right! Happy gardening and cooking :-D

Girls, can you advise on a nursery, that can deliver plants? Just moved to Malaysia and do not have a car yet, but want to get some herbs and plants for my new apartment. It seems that taxi ride from Cyberjaya to any nursery will cost more than all the plants...

Stephanie said...

Hi Antonia, Welcome to Malaysia! Please send an email to my mailbox, mygreenfinder [at] hotmail [dot] com stating your wish list (herbs). Thank you, Stephanie

Hi my name is Amenah
I'm looking for " Goodbye neighbours plants " do you have this plant? Please contact me if you have..
My email look4me2014@gmail.com thank you

Stephanie said...

Hi Amenah,

Look for Syzygium myrtifolium (Kelat paya) at the nurseries. This is a great plant for creating hedges/ screens. You can find this shrub at the bigger nurseries especially those at Sungai Buloh.

Hope this helps.

Warm regards,
Stephanie

Hi Ms. Stephanie,

Can you suggest me Nursery that can supply me different types of shrubs and trees? I'm working in a landscape company here in Singapore and I'm currently searching for potential suppliers.

Thank you.

Hi Stephenie,
Because of lack of space, I am more into container gardeing. Very interested in Coleus, Caladiums and lately in the hybrid adeniums.
whare do you suggest for a good variety. I stay in Bangsar.

Hi Isabel,

I have listed nurseries that are in Johor nurseries here... http://mygreenfinder.blogspot.my/2009/04/nursery-directory-johore.html

Hope you will be able to find one that can help you.

Hi Gunarama,

The best place to find plants is still Sungai Buloh. If you are not up to travelling all the way to Sungai Buloh, perhaps go to the Garden Mart at Petaling Jaya. Some of the nurseries have closed down, but some are still there.. http://mygreenfinder.blogspot.my/search/label/PJ%20Tropicana

Warm regards,
Stephanie
