Tesco @ Mutiara Damansara

It's amazing to find an island of greens and flowers right in the middle of a hypermarket. When I was at Tesco Store in Mutiara Damansara a few months ago, I was a bit apprehensive about its presence and thought that the plants were going to be there only for the Christmas season.

Last month when I was doing my groceries at Tesco, I was so happy to find that the rack was still there! I noticed a number of customers stopping by to browse the wonderful potted plants they have in stock. So I joined in to check out the plants as well.

Tesco Mutiara Damansara opens from 8.00am to 11.00pm from Sunday to Thursday and 8.00am to 1.00am on Friday, Saturday and public holidays.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.50 | Since it is an island booth, there are limited plants.

I saw many wonderful ferns and flowering plants. Some are in nice ceramic pots that you can just buy to present as gifts to your dearest one.

They have beautiful plants like anthurium, poinsettia, kalanchoe rose and amaryllis.

There are also lots of small cacti.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | All the plants are in good condition.

In Tesco itself, you can find some gardening supplies at the household section.

The plants do look pretty common, but those little cacti are refreshing! One time I found a small variegated shell ginger for $1.25 as a houseplant at my local publix, and promptly planted it outdoors. The great thing about a warm climate is getting cheap "houseplants" and putting them in the garden!

Wow..
Those Amaryllis are blooming.
Im jealous - wonder how cheap are they?

James, they should be in the range of RM10 - RM20.

Aaron, sorry for that. They should change plants more regular.

Rainforest Gardener, good for you :-D

Tesco plants are getting more acceptable. Their range, besides being of quality, is wide and more varieties are being displayed. They are also very selective of the types. Only healthy ones are sold. Congratulations to Tesco and Stephanie for highligting this.

Peter, I like buying those in smaller pots as this way, I get more variety of plants in my garden ;-) Thanks.
