Hexagon Green
Hexagon Green is one of the orchid nurseries at Taman Agroteknologi in Bukit Changgang. This nursery, occupying part of a 15-acre land, has been around for three years and opens daily from 9.00am to 7.00pm.
Visiting the nursery was an educational one for me as I had the opportunity to meet the owner, Dr Md Yusof Husin. He explained that they have their own tissue culture laboratory, hence the orchids in this nursery are cultivated from tissue. Plants reproduced by tissue culture are identical to the parent plant in terms of shape, size and colour as opposed to plants grown from seeds.
The orchids grown here, like mokara and dendrobium, are selected based on the popularity and hardiness of the plant.
Hexagon Green supplies disease-free tissue culture of orchids, ornamental plants, fruits and herbs besides providing consultancy and advisory services on pests and diseases of plants.
Plant Variety Rating: 3.5 | About 20 types of orchids. Other than orchids, vanilla and cordyline plant and monstera fern are also grown in this nursery.
Plant Condition Rating: 4.5 | All the plants are in very good condition.
Layout Rating: 4 | All the orchids are in pots, placed neatly on racks and arranged in rows. There are ample space between the racks, so it is very easy to move around the nursery.

That is a lot of orchids on a 15-acre land!
Not a fan of orchids, but there are two in my
collection...At any rate, it is relevant that not
many nurseries propagate from tissue, or micropropagation.
One could propagate anything this way, but it requires
equipment and care. Congratulations for your fresh
post....
