Yin Yin Nursery

While travelling along Sprint Highway today, I decided to stop by the nursery that's located at PJ Section 17 (just before the newly-opened Tropicana City Mall) to check out the place.

Yin Yin Nursery opens daily from 8.30am to 7.00pm and indeed has plenty to offer. The nursery has been in this business for about 13 years, specialising in rock garden, waterfall, grass turfing, garden maintenance and landscaping works.

They have a vast variety of tropical and flower plants. The plants that caught my attention was the flower plants in small pots like Petunia, Periwinkle, Daisy, Rose, Kalanchoe, Thunbergia, Gardenia, Ixora, Begonia, Euphorbia Mili etc. The Petunias, Periwinkles and some tiny flowers that look like daisy are in hanging pots placed right at the entrance. There are a number of beautiful Kalanchoe with different flower colours as well.

There are also Red Dragonfly and Juicy Peach Adenium Obesum or Desert Rose.

You can find aquatic plants in this nursery too.

Plant Variety Rating: 5 | More than 200 types of tropical ornamental palm, ferns, shrubs, trees, climbers, ground covers as well as aquatic plants. Mostly in-between in terms of age.

Besides Staghorn and Bird's Nest ferns, they also have a number of colourful Croton and Fringe Flower plants.

There are also plants like Calathea, Aglaorema and Dieffenbachia hybrids here.

Plant Condition Rating: 4 | The plants are mostly in good condition.

The Pussy-Ears succulent and Euphorbia Lactea seem to be thriving well in this outlet.

Layout Rating: 4 | The plants are quite neatly hung and arranged on racks as well as on the ground.

Garden Products Rating: 3.5 | There are a variety of garden accessories, ceramic and plastic pots and aquatic pots. I like the two-tiered clay planter which I think would be suitable for tight space gardens.

They sell vegetable seeds, soil and fertilisers too.

The condition has changed a lot when I visited last Sunday. It is not very well managed as it looked in 2009. The biodegradable pots are dirty but cheaper compared to other nurseries.

Thank you Liang for your feedback! The nursery does look like closing down in some ways for some time already. Btw, I bought some 'old' pots from them before also :-)

Hi Aaron, it is still there but at times I notice (from KL driving towards PJ/Tropicana City Mall, it is on the left hand side of the road, next to a school) they don't have plants anymore.
